Lamonas are a true American chicken breed developed in the Department of Agriculture. By 1920 they were a premier commercial breed. The Lamonas served the USA's private and commercial chicken needs for six decades before all but disappearing. The Lamonas hens lay large amounts of light off white eggs and is considered a dual purpose breed that has the unique trait, once they quit laying, are still tender enough to roast.

Our Project Breeders are dedicated to supplying AOPA Breed Standard breeding stock to the selected breeding public at fair and reasonable prices in order to restore more diverse DNA to strengthen the breed in general.

Our group of volunteer breeders are dedicated to education and re-introduction of this great breed. A few breeders have done a good job keeping the remaining DNA pools. However the birds are primarily in very limited private flocks thus limiting the breeds successful reentry into public accessibility. It is our goal to make this an affordable and popular breed once again. Lamonas are a true jewel in Poultrydom!
